2008 OCBA Board of Directors Elections
Board of Directors Slate Announced

During the first two weeks of May, our annual board of directors’ elections are held. Watch your mail for the candidate mailings that highlight the experience and qualifications of the slate of candidates. Shortly after you receive this mailing, you should receive your actual voting packet that includes an overview booklet of all of the candidates as well as your ballot and a return envelope.

This year’s Nominating Committee, chaired by Immediate Past President John F. Schaefer with the steadfast support of committee members Meg Alli, Keefe Brooks, the Honorable Daniel Patrick O’Brien, and the Honorable Cynthia Thomas Walker, met on Thursday, February 14 to determine a slate of candidates from a vastly experienced and luminary-rich field. Their mission was to compile a slate to fill five three-year terms ending June 30, 2011; and one one-year term ending June 30, 2009. According to OCBA bylaws, there must be two candidates for each seat. The nominees are:

Incumbents:

The Honorable Leo Bowman
Thomas H. Howlett
Victoria A. Valentine

Candidates:

Lori Grigg Bluhm
Cynthia E. Brazzil
Gerald J. Gleeson II
Beth S. Gotthelf
Michael K. Lee
Jules B. Olsman
James J. Parks
Anne Cole Pierce
Daniel D. Quick

Your vote is important – and it is critical that we are able to count it! Remember, your ballot must be discarded if you submit it without a signature and P number on the outer envelope. Likewise, if your ballot is postmarked and/or received after the May 15 deadline, it must be discarded as well. Last year, a total of 1,052 valid ballots were counted, with an additional 10 ballots invalidated due to lack of signature and/or P number on the outer envelope, and 10 more were invalidated due to lateness.

It seems that each year’s results are close, so it is so important to keep these guidelines in mind when it comes time to vote. Your vote and how you place your vote really does make a difference!
