7th Annual New Lawyers vs. OCBA Board
Bowling Challenge

The New Lawyers Committee challenged the OCBA Board of Directors to their annual bowling challenge on Friday, March 2 at Thunderbird Lanes in Troy. The Board not only answered the challenge, but they claimed their fourth consecutive win. In addition to the fun competition, this year’s challenged raised a record-breaking $956.00 for the Helping Families Cope Program, the NLC’s 2011-2012 charitable organization.

Holiday Adopt-A Family Project

The New Lawyers Committee worked with their 2011-2012 charity, the Helping Families Cope Program, to adopt a family for the holiday. As a result of the committee’s efforts, the family of six was showered with an overwhelming amount of support. They worked hard to ensure that the children’s’ holiday wishes came true. Some of the gift requests included: winter clothing, school clothes, shoes and boots, art supplies, a bike, a play tool set and items for their new-born baby. On December 21, committee members wrapped the donated items and put together $380.00 in Kroger gift cards for holiday meals. The committee looks forward to being involved in a similar project next year.

NOVEMBERFEST NETWORKING EVENT

On Thursday, November 10, 2011, the OCBA's New Lawyers Committee hosted their annual Novemberfest social and fundraising event at Rosie O'Grady's in Ferndale. The committee is raising money for the Helping Families Cope program, a New Day Counseling initiative that provides low-income families with counseling sessions.

Approximately 76 attendees helped the committee raise $951.00 for the charity. This contribution will provide low-income families with five to ten professional counseling sessions.

A special "thank you" goes to Stout Risius Ross for sponsoring the event.
