SIGNATURE EVENT BREAKS ALL RECORDS!

The 13th Annual Signature Event raised $250,000 in support of pro-bono legal assistance and legal education for the underserved segments of Oakland County.  Our thanks for our sponsors' and attendees' support is exceeded only by the gratefulness of those who will benefit from their sponsorship.  Please take a moment to look at the impact their generosity is having in the community:

• Recently, we received a thank you letter from Beaumont Hospital sharing that OCBF funding allowed them to help an impoverished mother of a five year old girl diagnosed with cancer.  The family was at risk of their utilities being disconnected. Because of Foundation funding, made possible by your contributions, an attorney and hospital social worker were able to secure food stamps for the family and put an emergency halt to their utility shut-off notice.   

• Lakeshore Legal Aid's Estate Planning Clinic was able to assist a terminally ill 67 year old man who had pancreatic cancer.  Thanks to their timely intervention, a will, a medical power of attorney and a durable power of attorney were delivered to ensure that his wife and children would be provided for in the future.  Within weeks of their service, the client passed away.

Without funding from the Foundation and many other legal resources, these programs would not be able to continue the work they do every day.  Today, the need for these services continues to grow with funding becoming more scarce.  The OCBF, the Lawyers Charity, very much appreciates their continued support to provide this critical funding for local legal aid providers and important law-related programs.
