On Monday, April 14, 2008, the OCBA Members-Only Lawyers Conference Room opened at the Oakland County Courthouse. The space is located on the ground floor of the West Wing annex.

Thanks to the great generosity of so many OCBA members who responded overwhelmingly to our December 6, 2007, request for Lawyers Conference Room donations, a total of $50,000 was raised to pay for renovations, furnishings, fixtures and start-up supplies. The room is outfitted with a comfortable seating area with a television soon to be added; a library conference table is available with seating for six; a pc workstation offers printing capability, e-filing capability as well as internet access; a kitchen area offers complimentary coffee and tea, a microwave and refrigerator as well as a sink. The OCBA’s File-by-Fax Service is also housed in the room, providing additional service and ease of convenience for members.
OCBA members have been delighted with the room, now having a place to hang coats; make case-sensitive calls to the office now in the privacy of the room rather than in a public hallway; having a place to store lunches; and hammering out details and arrangements with opposing counsel also in the privacy of a professional setting.

In order to gain entrance to the room, a swipe card is required. Only OCBA members are allowed access to the room or the privilege of requesting a card. There is a one-time fee of $30 to purchase the card. To inquire further or request a Swipe Card Agreement form, please contact Anne Campbell at (248) 334-3400.
It is very important to thank Sixth Circuit Court Chief Judge Wendy Potts; Oakland County Facilities Director David W. Ross; Oakland County Facilities Maintenance & Operations Division Manager Richard C. Johnston; Oakland County Facilities Planning Group Supervisor Robert S. Larkin; Oakland County Property Management Specialist Michael D. Hughson; Oakland County Senior Assistant Corporation Counsel, John F. Ross; Oakland County Court Administrator Kevin Oeffner; Oakland County Court Business Manager John Cooperrider and Oakland County Courts’ Business Operations Supervisor Christina Bujak for all of their help working through the approval and renovations process! A very special thanks to Kathleen M. Acker and Heidi Parris of Parris Interior Design for their talent and expertise in designing both a functional and attractive space for our members. Both women donated a significant amount of time to this project and much was provided in-kind to the OCBA. Last, a thank you to Johnson Building Company for their prompt, professional and exceptional workmanship in the room knowing that time was not a luxury.
