Oakland County Bar Wins Prestigious Awards



KIMBERLY M. CAHILL BAR LEADERSHIP AWARD -
  September 2012

The Oakland County Bar Association's Pro Bono Mentor Match Program won the State Bar of Michigan's Kimberly M. Cahill Bar Leadership Award for excellence in promoting the ideal of professionalism or equal justice for all, or in responding to a compelling legal need within the community. This award was presented on September 19, 2012, during the State Bar of Michigan's Annual Meeting held in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

ABA YOUNG LAWYER DIVISION - SERVICE TO THE BAR AWARD - 2011-2012

The New Lawyers Committee’s Motion Day Mentoring Program was awarded the “Service to the Bar” award from the American Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division at their Annual Meeting in Chicago on August 4, 2012.

LEXISNEXIS COMMUNITY & EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH AWARD - August 2011

The Oakland County Bar Association's Pro Bono Mentor Match Program won the LexisNexis Community & Educational Outreach Award for outstanding bar public service and law-related education programs. The award was presented on August 4, 2011, during the National Association of Bar Executives' Annual Meeting in Toronto, held in conjunction with the American Bar Association's Annual Meeting.


On hand to support the OCBA at the awards luncheon were Julie I. Fershtman, Past President of the State Bar of Michigan; John Nussbaumer, Associate Dean Thomas M. Cooley Law School and Pro Bono Mentor Match partner; Lisa Stadig Elliot, OCBA Executive Director; Judith K. Cunningham, OCBA President; and Janet Welch, State Bar of Michigan Executive Director

 


FASTCASE LUMINARY AWARD - EXCELLENCE IN SPECIAL PUBLICATIONS - 2011

OCBA's Veterans' Speakers Bureau booklet was recognized with the National Association of Bar Executives Communications Section's Fastcase Luminary Award for Excellence in Special Publications.

 



CHAMPION OF YOUTH AWARD -
  November 2009

The Oakland County Youth Assistance Program recognized the Oakland County Bar Association with their annual Champion of Youth Award on November 17, 2009.  The award was presented to celebrate the partnership and collaboration of the two organizations on hosting legal aid mini clinics throughout Oakland County to serve those in need.
