The Sanford Rosenthal Memorial Award

Established: 1986

Purpose: The Sanford Rosenthal Memorial Award was established by his family after his death in September 1996 at age 68. The award is made annually to a person who exhibits qualities of honesty, integrity, and professionalism that Mr. Rosenthal demonstrated throughout his life.

Awarded: Annually at OCBA Annual Meeting

Criteria:

  • A Michigan legal professional, including: attorneys, judges, legal assistants,secretaries, law clerks, administrators, law students;
  • A person who exhibits qualities of honesty, integrity, and professionalism;
  • An individual who has made significant contributions to his/her community.

Selection Process: Karl Hannum, Sanford Rosenthal’s son-in-law, and the president of the Oakland County Bar Foundation select the award recipient from the nominations that have been received.
