This is an event that was three years in the making! Many of Michigan's affinity bar associations are partnering with the OCBA to present this special event.

In addition to the traditional presentation of the Leon Hubbard Award, this event will feature the inaugural presentation of the Michael K. Lee Award Recognizing Diversity.

The Leon Hubbard Award celebrates and promotes an awareness of the rich cultural diversity of Oakland County by recognizing and honoring an individual or law firm, legal services or other law-related organization that has a record of community service, has promoted cultural diversity, advanced social equality, and worked to enhance the quality of life for all people. The 2015 award will be presented to Cheryl A. Bush of Bush, Seyferth & Paige, PLLC.

The purpose of the new Michael K. Lee Award Recognizing Diversity is to celebrate diversity and to promote an awareness of the need for increased diversity in the legal profession by honoring an individual, law firm, legal service, or other law-related organization that has a demonstrated record of promoting cultural diversity in the legal community through its participation in pipeline programs and through their commitment to the tenets set forth in the mission statement of the Diversity in the Legal Profession Committee.

The award honors attorney Michael K. Lee's memory and his commitment to that mission statement as well as his commitment to promoting participation in the activities and governance of the OCBA of lawyers representing the full array of diversity. The award recipient not only expresses a desire to achieve diversity in the legal profession but also actively works in various pipeline programs committed to introducing individuals with diverse backgrounds to the legal profession. The first recipient to be honored with this award is John R. Nussbaumer, former Associate Dean of the Auburn Hills campus of Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

This promises to be a very special night. Register now at Taste of Diversity so you don't miss it!
