Family Court Committee
The Family Court Committee is concerned with the education of attorneys and the public with regard to processes and legislation in the field of family law. The committee studies existing statutes and proposed legislation, making recommendations for changes where needed. If your practice area includes family law, join this active committee to network with yours peers. Committee members meet once a month to exchange ideas and information and to discuss topics of interest.
In addition to the monthly committee meetings at the OCBA, two committee members also host a monthly Family Court Roundtable discussion. These roundtable discussions give family law attorneys an opportunity to ask questions, seek/give advice and tell war stories with colleagues!
The mission of the OCBA Family Court Committee is to serve as a resource for our members, including Oakland County Family Court Judges, Oakland County Friend of the Court Referees and family law attorneys who practice in Oakland County, by providing professional development and networking opportunities, presentations by guest speakers, training and continuing education programs and seminars, and by keeping committee members abreast of legislative changes and proposed changes. Finally, the Family Court Committee also strives to assist members in maintaining positive relationships with judges, referees and family law practitioners in neighboring counties by hosting, co-hosting and encouraging member participation in various social gatherings and professional networking events.
Join us on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. at the OCBA office.
NOTE: Some meeting times and locations may vary due to special agendas. Click on the Calendar of Events to view specific meeting information.
