The Medical/Legal Committee is unique among OCBA committees in that it is composed of both physicians and attorneys who deal with inter-professional relationships and matters of concern to both professional groups.
With the growing interrelationship of medicine and law, it is inevitable that medical professionals and attorneys will be drawn into increasing association. The professions of law and medicine owe a mutual cooperative duty to the courts, to the American people generally, and to the people of Oakland County specifically. This obligation is better executed when each profession has and exercises respectful understanding and cooperation. Justice is, and must always be, our mutual professional goal -- unhampered by inconvenience, laziness, or self-service at the expense of the public.
Our mission, therefore, is to foster and advance the relationship between the legal and medical professions in Oakland County, to improve the public and the courts’ understanding of the laws that affect the practice of medicine, and to foster awareness of relevant news and legislation through open discussion and the presentment of speakers and semi-annual seminars.
Join us for bagels and conversation on the first Thursday of each month at 7:45 a.m. at the OCBA office.
