Juvenile Law Committee

The Juvenile Law Committee is concerned with all facets of the juvenile and family justice system including legislation, court proceedings and treatment. If your practice area includes juvenile law, join the committee to network with your peers.

COMMITTEE AT WORK
On February 18, 2021, the Juvenile Law Committee will host a panel of experts, including Michigan Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth T. Clement, to discuss the findings of "Overdue for Justice: An Assessment of Access to and Quality of Juvenile Defense Counsel in Michigan." The report highlights the exclusion of juvenile defense from current sweeping reforms of Michigan’s criminal defense system and raises concerns about the quality of defense counsel for children in Michigan’s delinquency system. Joining Justice Clement will be report author, Kim Tandy of Justice By Design and MaryAnn Scali, Executive Director of the National Juvenile Defender Center. Terri Gilbert of the Wayne State University School of Social Work Center for Behavioral Health and Justice will moderate.
