LOCA (Lawyers of a Certain Age) Committee

The OCBA is pleased to offer a committee designed specifically for members “of a certain age” to discuss their changing practices and priorities. The Lawyers of a Certain Age (LOCA) Committee is designed for OCBA members aged 62 and over, but anyone is welcome to attend and to participate.

From its inception the LOCA Committee articulated a three-part mission, as set forth below. LOCA serves as a “bar within the bar” to meet the needs, common issues, concerns and expectations of OCBA members age 62 and older. We also strive to share our experiences and expertise with younger bar members and the greater community.  Our mission contemplates three components:

1. Transitions in practice -- we sponsor programs to support lawyers as they prepare to move to part-time work, solo practice, close a practice, etc.
2. Social Issues -- we sponsor a variety of activities, programs and events to allow interaction among LOCAs and with the greater bar community.
3. Capture the Special Skills of LOCAs -- we create opportunities for LOCAs to contribute their talent as seasoned attorneys to and with the the OCBA and Oakland County community at large.

Join us for collegiality and conversation on a quarterly basis in July, October, January and April. Committee members meet on a Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at the OCBA office. Click on the Calendar of Events to view specific meeting information.
